Aupair Visa Italy - Au Pair Program in Italy

Program requirements
The Italian Government changed its immigration law in June 2004 such that Italian families are currently allowed to hire only nationals from EU countries to serve as their aupair or nanny.

Students financially dependent on their parents must provide the following:

  • A letter from the home University in two copies (original plus one copy) confirming applicant's enrolment status. The applicant should be fully enrolled in the current academic year or already enrolled for the following semester. Information such as anticipated graduation date, major, etc. should be expressed and must be in official form i.e. with university seal. Faxed copies will NOT be accepted.

  • Two copies of a letter of acceptance (original plus one copy) from the US Academic Institution providing for the Study Abroad Program (see sample letter)

  • A letter of acceptance from the host Academic Institution in Italy or the Italian branch of the US Academic Institution providing for the Study Abroad Program.

  • A notarized affidavit of support from the student's parents, (original plus one copy), stating they will assume full financial responsibility for their son/daughter during his/her stay in Italy.

  • Two copies of a letter (original plus one copy) from the parents' bank on the bank's letterhead, signed by a bank official, indicating account balance. Bank statements cannot be accepted. A minimum of $1,000.00 per each month of stay in Italy is required. Bank letters should have a recent date. Please note that the amount must be specified in US dollars.

Self-sufficient students:

  • Two copies of a letter from the student's home university (original plus one copy) confirming applicant's enrolment status. The applicant should be fully enrolled in the current academic year or already registered for the following semester. Information such as anticipated graduation date, major, etc. should be expressed and must be in official form i.e. with the university's seal. Faxed copies will NOT be accepted.

  • Two copies of a letter of acceptance (original plus one copy) from the US Academic Institution providing for the Study Abroad Program

  • A letter of acceptance from the host Academic Institution in Italy or the Italian branch of the US Academic Institution providing for the Study Abroad Program

  • Two copies of a letter (original plus one copy) from the student's bank on the bank's letterhead, signed by a bank official, indicating account balance. Bank statements cannot be accepted. A minimum of $1,000.00 per each month of stay in Italy is required. The amount should be expressed in US dollars. If the applicant is a recipient of financial aid, a letter from the Financial Aid Advisor, stating the amount granted for that semester, costs, etc. must be submitted. Bank letters should have a recent date.

Working visas for Italy:

  • A written agreement between the au pair-to-be and the host family (which should specify the duration of stay, salary, study benefits, etc). The agreement must be stamped by the "Ufficio Provinciale del Lavoro", together with a permit issued by the local police. In some areas it is sufficient to just have this stamped by the local police.

  • A working visa will take around 3 months to obtain. If a girl goes to Italy on a working visa, the family must pay all the related taxes and such contributions as required for a foreign worker.

Please note: Students pursuing individual study programs should contact the Visa Office before applying.

Family Testimonial...
A wonderful site that came highly recommended by a good friend of mine. Especially those in-depth-interviews were a great help in deciding on a matching aupair. We've signed up for the 3-month-period but were so lucky as to find the perfect matching girl within the first couple of days. She is lovely and will be a great asset to our family...we will be a great team, I am sure already. Thanks Grit & family
